DIY Cheesemaking Kit: Mini Farmer's Cheese

Make farmers' cheese at home in less than an hour with this DIY kit! Farmers are smart and they eat simply.  So, this cheese is fittingly rustic and very adaptable. It can vary from ricotta to feta in flavor and texture. You can use it creamy, firm, sweet or savory- the instructions will guide you.

Your Mini DIY Farmers' Cheese Kit Includes:

  • Fine Mesh 100% Cotton Cheesecloth (also known as Butter Muslin) 
  • Non GMO Citric Acid

ABOUT URBAN CHEESECRAFT

Urban Cheesecraft was founded by Claudia Lucero, author of "One Hour Cheese".  When she began to share her experimental cheeses with co-workers and neighbors years ago, they wanted to know how they could make cheese, too. As she started to give them the details, their eyes would glaze over – admittedly, it was difficult to gather the right supplies, and they were afraid to poison themselves. All of a sudden, the epiphany came: she'd done all of the research and recipe testing; she knew which ingredients worked safely and consistently, as well as where to get them. She realized she could provide all the supplies and instructions for several batches of cheese in a cute little box and save everyone the trouble of searching and experimenting.  And so she did!

You don't have to press it into firm wheels. Without pressing, the cheese can be creamy or crumbly, it's up to you. You can add herbs, cracked pepper, diced sun-dried tomatoes, hot pepper flakes or any combination you enjoy. You can make a veggie dip, ricotta cheesecake, mix with jam and top pancakes, use it savory to fill pasta shells, dollop onto chili, layer in lasagna, crumble onto salads like feta, and endless other dishes.

But wait there's more (it's 1am, I think that language just comes out at this time!)-- you can even FRY this cheese! 

One of the many unique characteristics of this cheese is that it doesn't melt, so you can actually pan-fry cubes for a browned, crispy, chewy, crazy good treat. Imagine the possibilities! Use it instead of croutons on a crisp green salad, fry it like an egg for an amazing sandwich, replace meat or tofu in any dish or just dip cubes as appetizers in a delicious sauce (bbq, plum, pesto, salsa...)
