Welcome to Chivas: The Mindful Goat!
August 19, 2008 Written by Chivas Skin Care
What is mindful living? It is about being conscious of the effects of your actions on those around you, the environment, and, yes, even your own being. We make so many choices each and every day that at times it seems overwhelming to try to be mindful of them all. If you really start to think about it, you might drive yourself insane. For example, if you worried so much about your carbon footprint, you might never leave your house. So, don’t panic!
I hope to touch on all sorts of helpful topics in this blog – from natural skin care to fair trade principals, from herb gardens to non-GMO foods. Just take each one topic at a time, with a little breath of fresh air, and we can all make big changes, small steps at a time.
My small step this week: Stop picking my nails. This may sound like a trivial matter but I know that this bad habit is caused by anxiety. My Plan: Each time I start to pick, STOP, take a deep breath instead, close my eyes and think of something I have done well today. This small step just might start to “pick” away at my stress.
WHAT SMALL STEP CAN YOU MAKE THIS WEEK? If it helps to have some accountability, comment below and I’ll check in to see how you’re doing in a week.

I will try to get enough sleep so that I can wake up early to do yoga/or work out…and not be tired at work later in the day
I love the way you think!!
I will try to turn off my Blackberry before going to bed rather than keeping it on and next to my head!!! Aren’t there weird cellphone rays that erase your memory anyways? :p
Great blog Lauren! I’ll turn off the TV (too much E! Entertainment is frying my brain) and read more books.
Hmmm… let’s see. I think for this week I’m going to stop procrastinating when it comes to writing my dissertation. So as soon as I find myself clicking on spider solitaire or sudoku, I’m going to say STOP, take a deep breathe, and return to researching and writing. Then I’ll reward myself later with some mindless TV
) haha!
This week, I will try to plan my driving so I can carpool with those around me. Not only will I save on gas money, but I will hopefully help conserve a precious resource.
