What new to expect at our Holiday “Open Farm” this year!

We know many of you have loyally attended our Holiday “Open Farm” for up to 5 years in a row. First off, thank you for your support – it means the world! And secondly, we want you to know that we are always thinking of ways to make each year a little different so that you have something new to look forward to. Here’s what’s new this year…
(1) The shopping and food will be moved into the house, so there will be no potential hiccups with the weather. So, come rain or shine!
(2) We have 9 new animals on the farm: Lola (our newest puppy), Bacon (our infamous tea-cup pig) and 6 chickens.
(3) There will be FIVE new vendors: Lina’s Pottery, Healthy Surprise vegan snacks, Michelle Caplan mixed media arts, Kady’s creative welding & Aliun’s Senegalian baskets.
(4) Brandy and JoAnn will be helping at the Chivas table, which means Donna and Lauren will have more quality time to spend with each of you.
(5) We’ve made a number of improvements to the property that we’re excited to show you including red-painted barn, local-rock-pilaster gate, local-rock entrance to new porch doors and more.
Have any other ideas on how we can make this the best year yet? You can make suggestions on our Facebook page.

Raw Goat Milk Now Available at Lassen’s Natural Foods
October 14, 2011 by LaurenJ

My Mom called me this afternoon and exclaimed “Lauren, I have great news!!!”. ”What? What?” I asked, thinking maybe she had won the lottery based on how ecstatic her voice was. ”Lassen’s is selling raw goat milk! Can you believe it?”

Ok, this was not as exciting as winning the lottery, but comes pretty darn close. Up until now, it was nearly impossible to find raw goat milk in California. Sharon Palmer of Santa Paula used to supply raw milk to Rawesome in Venice, CA, but since the August 2011 FDA raid, this is no longer an option. People ask us all the time if we sell our raw goat milk, but we do not.
Luckily, now there is a supply: Claravale Farm raw goat milk is available at Lassen’s in Thousand Oaks (2857 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362; (805) 495-2609) … and perhaps at more of their locations (please comment if you find it elsewhere). The milk is a bit pricey at $7.29/quart, but since it’s practically liquid gold it’s well worth it.
Let’s all raise our glasses to Lassen’s and Claravale Farm!
More coming soon on the benefits of drinking raw goat milk and the “What’s all the fuss about (raw) milk?” event I recently attended hosted by the Weston A. Price Foundation.

Not Familiar with Abe’s Market?
Here’s how they describe themselves: “Abe’s Market is the online marketplace for great natural products. We connect buyers seeking amazing natural products with the people who make them. There’s no need to prowl the Internet for a broader natural product selection than can be found at your local natural market. At Abe’s Market, you can get all your natural product buying done in one place.”
Basically, you can always buy a selection of Chivas goat milk soaps, cremes and lip balms, as well as other natural products, directly from AbesMarket.com

New Store Location: Fleur Flower Shop in Chicago

We’re excited to be selling at our first store in Chicago! Fleur is a gorgeous flower shop in the Logan Square neighborhood. They have a great location and a beautiful storefront right on the square to tempt passers by with the thought of fresh flowers. And while we’ve never heard of this happening, we’re ready to plan a wedding just so the talented folks here can design us dozens of arrangements (wink wink).
In addition to an incredible array of flowers, they also sell an array of beautiful handmade products that are fun to buy as gifts (and gifts for ourselves are the best kind!) – unique tea towels, delicate vases, handmade cards, and now Chivas soaps, lip balm, face cream and our bath soak! If you’re in the area, we highly recommend brightening your day with a trip to this store. Say hi to Kelly while you’re in!
New Store Location: Jenny Wax in Santa Monica, California

Jenny Wax is a boutique spa in Santa Monica, California, that specializes in brow and bikini waxing, as well as in organic Jurlique facials, massages and more.
I have known Jenny for years now. We first became friends through my work with Your Daily Thread, which covers LA-based green companies like hers. I now frequent her regularly in the summers to naturally tint my otherwise blond eyebrows and eyelashes for a make-up-free beach look. Since it recently moved to a bigger and better location on Montana Avenue with a shabby chic waiting area and retail space, Jenny Wax now carries the full line of Chivas boutique goat milk soaps, facial cremes, lip balms and bath salts. Here is a picture of the display (although looking back I wish I had taken a photo with Jenny too – you would love her)
And if you are in the market for a facial or waxing, I would highly recommend the friendly atmosphere of Jenny’s boutique! Address: 1619 1/2 Montana Avenue, Suite A, Santa Monica, CA 90403. Phone: 310.393.2560
Don’t live in Santa Monica? Wish we were carried in a store near you?
Let us know if there is a store near you that might be a good fit for our products! (Click here to contact us).
